The Old Fort has been featured this year in Travel Channel's new show called "Island Secrets"... |
Introduction
The Old Fort is the only fully restored historic plantation in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, dating back to the 18th-century when the first French settlers migrated to the West Indies. It is ideal for guests that are seeking something different to the ordinary and those who want utmost relaxation and tranquillity. We have been recommended by various international publications as the perfect place to go and unwind, with an exceptional venue that can host any type of special event such as a wedding or a large group get-together. No wonder that numerous celebrities have visited and stayed at The Old Fort throughout the 3 decades that we have been in operation!
Extremely private yet only minutes away from the best beaches on the island, we are proud to offer a hard-to-find classical ambiance in a beautiful natural setting. The Old Fort has a breath-taking location on the top of a large estate that stretches from the hillside all the way down to the Atlantic Ocean. Spectacular views overlook the horizon and the numerous eastern and southern Grenadine islands. Not only can one see Bequia's close neighbour, the chic island Mustique, but on a clear day even as far as distant Grenada, which lies over 50 miles away beyond the Grenadines.
The Old Fort’s property interiors have been charmingly decorated, with large spacious suites and rooms, all possessing their own character and flair. The numerous indoor and outdoor sitting areas allow one to enjoy the lush tropical gardens and views to the fullest. Several trails lead through the estate from where one can discover many wonders of nature, including local bird species, tortoises, and bright green-coloured iguanas. The Old Fort is also a superb location to enjoy stargazing at night! Seeing really is believing and our image gallery, as good as it may be, cannot justify the real feel of this unique enchanting property!
